SNAKES DROP SECOND GAME
One game after scoring 14 runs the Calgary Vipers only managed one-seventh that many in a 5-2 loss to the Orange County Flyers in the back end of a double-header at Goodwin Field in Fullerton, California. The loss not only spilt the twin bill but also the first ever series between the two teams. Calgary's record is now 10-6 in the second half of the season and they are a half game ahead of the Edmonton Cracker-Cats for first place in the Golden Baseball League's North Division.
Calgary jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning but would only score one more run in the final six innings.
In the bottom of the second inning the Flyers picked up runs batted in from Marcus Crockett and Travon Jackson to go ahead for good at 2-1.
Two more runs were added an inning later with a Patrick Breen solo homerun and a Josh Arhart RBI single for the 4-1 advantage.
The two teams traded off lone runs in the top of the fourth and bottom of the fifth innings to complete the scoring at 5-2.
